Nowadays, personality tests can be found easily online. One of the best known is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test.

Quoting Verywell Mind, personality tests are tools used to assess a person's personality.

The scoring technique in this test is designed to measure the characteristic patterns shown by individuals in various situations.

Personality tests are often used in the job recruitment process (job vacancies) .
In addition, this test can also be used to help clarify clinical diagnoses, guide therapeutic interventions and help predict how a person might respond in different situations.

There are two types of personality tests, namely self-report inventory and projective tests. The self-report inventory asks test takers to read the questions and rate how well they are. While the projective test asks the test taker to interpret a scene, object or scenario that is not clear.

Personality test assessment results are valid and reliable. "Many studies over the years have proven the validity of the MBTI instrument," said the Myers & Briggs Foundation as reported by Tempo.co from the Washington Post.

However, some tests face problems in their validity. For example, tests such as the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory and the Rorschach are prone to subjects who are too pathological. The test can identify them as addicts or abusers.

Personality test results can give you a better picture of yourself, but they don't really tell you everything.

Personality test results may suggest that a person should become an accountant, but that person may not necessarily find the job enjoyable and satisfying. This is because there is a big difference between being interested in a particular field and enjoying a real job.
